Hawks have now won 4 in a row in what is hopefully only the middle of a winning streak needed to offset some of that atrocious 9 game "skid".

Just got back from the UC after a great win over the Red Wings. No Toews, but no Datsyuk so that evens out, but a very encouraging win on a number of levels.

This had to be the best team D I've seen them play all year. Once they got the lead in the first they completely shut down Detroit, limiting them to maybe one real scoring chance for the last 12 minutes or so. Crawford was great and I was impressed with the neutral zone positioning as well as the active sticks there.

It's amazing. After declaring them not to be Stanley Cup contenders this year they are slowly making me a believer again. Still plenty of hockey to be played, but after 4 encouraging wins in which they outscored their opponents 15-5 including three straight one goal against wins, they're trending in the right direction. If this team shows up in the playoffs they can compete against anyone, of course if they play like they did during the slump they could just as easily be swept in the first round against any opponent......here's hoping the wins continue.

I'm not gonna say more, but guys like this make this team a playoff team for years to come. I have my ideas of what they'd have to give up.....but no idea. Chips include Grabner, Okposo, Niedderiter, Strome, DeHaan, maybe even a guy liek Montoya if the Isles can resign Nabby. Of course picks would be included and I'd love to see okposo stay. I wouldnt mind giving up Grabner and more to land one of these guys.
Anyways that's my thoughts. Its better than waiting for Parise to become a UFA and watch him go elsewhere.

Big news. I personally doubt he gets traded before the deadline as deals this big typically take a while to hammer out. Sounds to me like it's inevitable he's gone. If he's said to Howson that he'll accept a trade, how likely is it he'll end up staying?

Do you guys think Nash will approve a trade to Toronto or is that wishful thinking on the part of Leaf fans? It's going to take a big package to land Nash and I'm not sure Toronto has the assets to do that deal. It's hard to speculate on what Nash's short list would look like. Rangers? Red Wings? Boston? Not sure the Rangers want to mess with their line up, they are playing good hockey right now.

All kidding aside, it is nice to see him score one... Gomez has been working really hard since coming back from an injury and doing all the right things (shooting more, going to the net, screening the goalie, in position for a tip in or rebound).

He will never live up to that contract, but at least he is working hard.

Kinda hard to feel sorry for a guy making $7.5M, but there are days I do - with the fans and the media in MTL.

Good on Scotty.

Ugly, ugly hockey in the last two games.

The Sharks are wasting their games in hand, while teams ahead of them continue to win.

The defense and goaltending has been scary the last couple of games.

This team is so very streaky, up and down all season long. What it means, is that they will either be out in the first round, or the third round...their streaks don't last longer than 10 games or so either way.

DW has said he doesn't want another rent-a-player, which means that he will have to either pay for a player with at least one more year on his contract (with all the assets the organization does not have), or roll with the team as is into the playoffs.
